Douglas S. Dow, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Director of Endourology
Douglas S. Dow, M.D., grew up in Houston and attended Bellaire High School. He received his BS from George Washington University in 1990. In 1994, Dr. Dow received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed both his internship and his residency in urologic surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, in 2000, including one year of urologic oncologic surgery at The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. He served as chief resident in urologic surgery from 1999 to 2000.
Dr. Dow's areas of special interest in urology include the following:
- Urologic oncology
- Endourology/stone disease
- Voiding dysfunction
- Robotic applications in urology
Dr. Dow has presented research at international and national meetings on a number of subjects including urologic reconstruction using intestinal segments, erectile dysfunction, interstitial cystitis, and the use of herbal supplements in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Dr. Dow performs robot assisted laparoscopic urologic surgery using the state of the art Da Vinci robot by Intuitive(www.davincisurgery.com). This tool assists the surgeon to perform surgery with benefits such as:

- Less pain
- Less scarring
- Shorter hospitalization
- Quicker return to normal activity
Dr. Dow holds active membership in a number of organizations, including the American Urologic association, The American College of Surgeons, The Texas Urologic Society, and the Texas Medical Association. As a native Houstonian, he is committed to advancing the field of urology in our community.
